THE PROJECT
The existing site contains the Mae D’Agua water mill, dating from 1870, together with 35.750 square metres of land. The site is located on the banks of the river Divor, and within a National Ecological Reserve.
The development comprises two parts: the renovation and extension of the existing building and the construction of several new accommodation units plus ancillary common/shared areas. The exact design and specification are yet to be determined, although sustainability and biodiversity will be critical considerations in the design and implementation of this project. The development will open as an environmentally friendly eco-resort and holiday village when complete. The existing buildings comprise of approx. 200m², with a Main House (large living room, kitchen, bathroom) and Guest Annexe (bedroom, bathroom).
MOINHO DA MÁE D’ÁGUA
Planning permission was secured to increase the accommodation by 640m² to 860m². The project was approved by Arraiolos Town Offices, Evora Tourism Board and the Alentejo Economic Office. However, the project was not completed within the required timeframe. As a result, it will now be re-designed to reflect the clients’ requirements. The sustainable property will consist of private residential and tourist/light commercial use.
